I wear a hijab/headscarf. Sometimes I use the long end of my scarf to cover my nose and mouth – for example if I have a cold or if it is actually freezing cold outside. This covering of the nose and mouth is called Niqaab.

6 months ago, if I went out with my face covered, nearly everyone who I would walk past would stare. I would get strange looks from the young and the middle aged.

But now …

I went to get some groceries, again with my face covered, in a Niqaab style, and no-one battled an eyelid

The irony – Covid-19 is teaching us so many ways to protect ourself from catching this disease, have we ever stopped to think why didn’t we do this in the first place if we suffered from a cough or cold?

Just goes to show that Islam ain’t bad, there is always a reason behind actions.
